General overview

Wakefield District Citizens Advice Bureau is an independent charity and we raise funds from charitable trusts, individuals, public bodies and companies.

We are here to provide the advice you need for the problems you face. This could include advice on housing, employment, debt, benefits, immigration, consumer and many other issues. Our service is free, confidential and impartial and is for anyone who lives or works in the Wakefield District.

Most of our members of staff are trained volunteers. On your first visit or phone call, you will explain your problem to one of our advisers who will decide how best to help you. They may:

We are based in Wakefield at 27 King Street. You can access our service by dropping in to King Street at the following times:

Monday 9am - 5pm
Tuesday 9am - 5pm
Wednesday 9am - 5pm
Thursday 9am - 5pm
Friday 9am - 5pm
Saturday (morning only first Saturday of every month 9am - 1pm)

or telephoning us on 0844 499 4138, Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm.

Alternatively, drop in to one of our outreaches in South Elmsall, Normanton, Featherstone, Hemsworth, Castleford and Pontefract. You can also make an appointment through your doctor if you are a patient at any of the following:

Hate Reporting Centre

The CAB centres are part of a network of reporting centres where victims of hate crimes can report incidents at locations other than police stations. These cover both racist and homophobic incidents (harassment against gay men and lesbians). All incidents reported are treated in the strictest confidence.
